Romanian couching

To work this stitch, make a long stitch covering the length of the pattern and bring the needle out to the left of the thread. Now make a small stitch over the long thread inserting the thread on the right and bringing out again on the left , keeping the thread above the needle. The process continues till you reach end of the long stitch using these smaller stitched fastening the long one.



This form of couching is useful for filling in large spaces in which a flat un-textured background is required.
