Embroidered Shawls
The
Gujarati shawls are pure sheep wool or mixed with cotton. They are
embroidered with kutch embroidery. Mirror and bead work are also
incorporated. Phulkari is also being used in embroidery on shawls.
The pashmina shawls either 100%
woolen or 70% wool 30% cotton are embroidered with intricate kashmiri patterns
on borders and corners. They may be covered with smaller motifs all over.
A cashmere shawl embroidered with kashmiri stitches or a Gujarati
shawl with Kutchi adornments of bold colored threads and mirror work, embroidered
shawls have an Indian origin. The woolen fabric is hand embroidered in traditional
motifs and relevant stitches.
