Embroidery
styles often used are thread work, zari and zardozi, mirror and
bead work. Chikankari adds to the beauty of fine cottons and muslin.
The borders and the palla are heavily embroidered. The whole sari
may have small motifs of the pattern at regular intervals. Kasuti,
kantha Chikan and zardozi are the main traditional embroidery styles
for sarees. Many other contemporary styles and patterns are now
bein used.
Saree
makes the most elegant of all Indian dressings. The grace of an embroidered saree
is beyond compare. Embroidery can be done on sarees of crepe, silk, organza, chiffon,
georgette, cotton or any other natural or synthetic fibers.
